Important Pet Travel Requirements

When traveling with pets, it’s essential to meet certain regulations, especially when crossing borders. These requirements ensure your pet’s safety and compliance with EU and UK rules:

Micro-Chip or Tattoo

The pet must be micro-chipped or tattooed, and the date must be recorded in their passport.

21-Day Waiting Period

A minimum of 21 days must pass after the Rabies vaccination before the pet can travel to another EU country.

Rabies Vaccination

Your pet must be treated with a Rabies vaccine after the micro-chip or tattoo has been applied.
The vaccination date must be recorded, and any sticker used must be sealed with a laminated strip.
The pet must be at least 12 weeks old at the time of vaccination.

Tapeworm Treatment (Dogs Only)

A suitable tapeworm treatment must be administered to dogs by a vet no less than 24 hours and no more than 120 hours before arrival in the UK.
The treatment must address Echinococcus multilocularis and contain Praziquantel as the active ingredient.
The treatment must be signed and stamped by an Official Veterinary Surgeon (OVS), and any sticker used must be sealed with a laminated strip.
